Burning city visual effect where view of city rotates and flames rise.
Animation Preparation
This animation of a burning city was created with 3ds Max and After Effects. The 3ds Max fire effect wouldn't render with the large number of vertices required for the meshes of the city buildings. Therefore two renderings were prepared. One rendering of the city and another rendering of the fire. Both renderings use the same camera and path.
- First with 3ds Max, render animation frames, with an alpha transparent background, of the city.
- Second with 3ds Max, render animation frames of an animated fire, mapped to a sphere.
- Third composite the frames with After Effects.
- Last apply Wave Warp and Gaussian Blur effect controls to the city only.
