Illustration was painted
with Vista Tips 24 bit software,
similar to Photoshop.
Background graphics are part of the portfolio of Amy (Washburn) Butler, owner of Seven Thunder Software, listed in imdb.com as Amy Washburn.
Graphics preparation aimed for dark semi-realistic backgrounds. For example Aunt Lily's messy living room, kitchen, and the lab scene's spilled liquid, look a little scary. Moss grew from bricks in the dungeon. In general, everything appeared scuffed, dirty and old.
2D illustration preparation included an eye for light direction, composition, and consistency between scenes. Some scenes were prepared for horizontal tracking, such as Aunt Lily's Living Room.
Horizontal Tracking
Left and right images for tracking scenes were painted
separately, then combined for animation.
For example the San Zuchini Harbor
animation composes two separate scenes. Animations
